The red moon’s destiny

At midnight, Luna was born. The name Luna made her parents think of the night sky. But everyone despised her since she was born beneath the red moon. Everyone believed the scarlet moon to be unlucky. Melissa, her sister, was the only one who truly cared for her. Melissa always behaved her age despite being three years Luna’s elder and having progeria. Sadly, progeria is a condition that causes some people to age slower than others-unfortunately, Melissa suffered from this condition at the age of three.

Despite this, she was more enthusiastic than other patients. Many patients were unsatisfied with their condition even if they had been provided with special care. Melissa resisted being taken care of since she always insisted on playing with her younger sister. She vowed to Luna that she would never leave her sister’s side because she resented the way others treated her sister. But when Luna reached 15, Melissa wasn’t there at all. Late that night, the chief came over and began explaining how to get rid of Luna because the people were sick of having to live with her.

“For the love of God, She’s only fifteen! What’s wrong with you?”

her mother sobbed. Those words woke Luna up. Her legs were shaking uncontrollably as she crept down the stairs. She heard the words

“I’ll give you £100,000 if you accept the plan. Deal?”

and peered through the ancient, rusted entryway. She was frightened by the chief’s sombre tone. Her heart broke as if someone had just stabbed her, and her parents appeared to be making a deal. As Luna hurried up the stairs to avoid being caught, her eyes were beginning to well up. Her mind was racing. Why was she acting so strangely? All of a sudden, everything went black, and she fell to the earth with a loud thud. Melissa was the first person on the scene, and her parents and the chief entered abruptly a short time later.

” You morons, look what you have done! “Melissa wept. The noises apparently woke Melissa, and she overheard the entire conversation. “Move it!  Why are you just standing there?”

“Melissa! What’s up with you lately? We have been taking care of you the day you were born, and this is how you treat us? Unbelievable!”

“If this is considered caring for your daughter, then sure! Until you truly treat her as she deserves to be treated, I won’t give up. You’ve bullied her and the villagers treated her like the devil her entire life. You wouldn’t think she was as horrible as you did if you all gave her a chance. I’ve seen what others have done to her and you didn’t defend her, I did, and I was the one who looked after her while I was ill. And look at you, fit and healthy, not even bothering to feed her! What good parents you are!” Melissa sobbed.

Her parents became aware of how poorly they had treated Luna after hearing Melissa’s statements.

“H-Honey… I never knew how badly your father and I have treated Luna,” She tried to hug Melissa but  Melissa pushed her away and yelled,

“You people are terrible parents!” as she tried to embrace her.

“I hate you!” Without uttering another word, she fled. When her parents tried to follow her, all they found was a letter that read, “I don’t want to talk to you right now,” on the door.” I genuinely believed you were deserving of knowing how precious Luna was to me. This mess can be solved in a certain way. Take her to the hospital to be checked out. After she leaves the hospital, bring her to me. They immediately knew what they needed to do after reading the note.

They proceeded to Luna’s chamber “You are a disgusting person. You don’t deserve the position of a chief “She spoke swiftly. Before the chief could respond to her remark, she stormed away, carrying Luna in her father’s arms. To get her evaluated, they took her to the local hospital. The doctors had assured them that she was OK and that they only needed lots of rest. They both let out sighs of relief.

When they walked in, they saw Luna admiring the bracelet her parents had given her years earlier. Her mother asked, “Are you okay with me buying you a new one? “Really?” Luna inquired. She chuckled, “Yes,” as they drew closer for a hug. Luna received her hospital discharge a few hours later. As soon as they arrived at their house, they put Luna to bed in her room. When Melissa’s door wasn’t opened, they proceeded to her room. “If you’re only here to apologize to me, you can leave.” She spoke.

Her parents said, “You might want to check in Luna’s room.” Never before had they seen Melissa run so fast to Luna’s room. She moved as quickly as a bullet! She hurried to hug Luna as soon as she saw her beautiful face, her eyes welling up. “You had me so concerned! I’m so happy you returned!”

“I’m happy to see you too sis.”
