Sage was born in the late evening. One thing everyone knew was that she was not like other people. With her lovely ginger hair to her dazzling green eyes. She was gorgeous. Yet something else was wrong with her. She had dyslexia. Her parents found out when she was 5. Her teacher had contacted her parents to tell them she had some problems with learning. Her mum went ballistic.
“ What are you crazy? My daughter has no problem and you have to deal with it. Do you know who I am? Fine. I’ll take her to the doctor to prove she has nothing wrong with her.” She exclaimed. After running some tests on Sage, they found out that she had dyslexia. Her mother did not give a normal reaction
“What? No. This is not possible. There must be some mistake in the machine.” She cried
“ Ma’am I’m gonna need you to sit down and relax”
The doctor replied.
“I WILL NOT CALM DOWN UNTIL YOU TELL ME THIS IS A MISTAKE!” Her mother cried.
“ We cannot possibly do that as the machines are very much doing what they are supposed to.” The doctor said. Her mother stormed out of the office.
Everyone was surprised
by her reaction. But they didn’t take it seriously. Which wasn’t a good choice.
She had stopped making contact with everyone except for one person. Her mother. Her mother was like her comfort person. She used to go out to the hotel Sage’s dad owned but she stopped that as well. She didn’t go out at all!
This made Sage very lonely as her parents dropped her out of school and she had no one to play with. When Sage turned six, she started to learn all about the hotel and she came with her dad to work to learn more about the hotel. She loved the hotel but she had always thought something was off about that hotel.
She wasn’t wrong.
Sage had always tried to tell her father about unknown shadows lurking about in the hotel, but her father had always said she had an amazing imagination and there was nothing such as ghosts. So she tried to get over it but she couldn’t. She was roaming the halls until she saw letters that were written with blood. She knew she had dyslexia and this was a huge problem. Suddenly, she heard footsteps, she knew that she was the only one on the floor and she thought this was the end. But then the footsteps stopped.
Sage let a sigh out of relief. And then she started running to her dad’s office and told him everything.
“Sage, you are 14 and you have been to this hotel for nearly 10 years! You should know that nothing is wrong with this hotel.”
Her dad said firmly. Sage was rarely cross with her dad. But this time she was fuming with anger. She stomped out disappointed with her dad. Sage then went back to the place where she found the blood-written words but this time it was gone.
“ What? I swear it was there before.” Sage said bewildered. She decided to go explore some more and she found a door. She decided to go in and explore. There was no light switch so Sage had to go in complete darkness.
Luckily, Sage had her phone torchlight and used it. There were many boxes covered with cobwebs and blood.
“Hmm. Fascinating.” Sage said.
Suddenly, she heard these words,
“You shouldn’t be here…” before it was pitch black. A couple of hours later her dad was starting to be quite concerned as Sage still had not returned. He recalled the time when Sage had talked about the unusual attic. He had decided to go there and see if he could find her there But there was n trace of Sage; until he found something flash in the corner.
It was her phone! Her father was relieved and decided to look some more. After half an hour, he had still not found anything other than her phone. He had lost all hope. He was ready to give up until he heard a voice. It was his wife. She looked so different since the last time he had seen her.
“I know where she is.” Scarlett (his wife) said.
“Really? Where? Show me!” He said.
“I will show you where she is under one condition,” Scarlett replied
“ Tell me. I will do anything to see my precious angel again”
He replied.
“Do not go on that business trip. Something very bad will happen to the plane. Also, when you reach your destination, do not touch the jar that says Sage’s name on it it is a trick. It sends you to another universe. I will give you a map to help you to exactly where she is. Just trust me on this one.” Scarlett commented. She leads him to a secret door which leads them to a different universe.
Scarlett handed him a map.
“This is as far as I can take you. Good luck.” She said. And then she left. He was on his own again finding his daughter. He examined the map carefully and realized it wasn’t that far away.
“ Please be OK Sage” he muttered under his breath. He started walking in the direction the map was pointing at. All of a sudden, he stopped. This place seemed, familiar.
He ignored these odd thoughts a focused on finding Sage. After two relentless hours of walking, he finally arrived. There was a small, timbre house right in front of large pine trees.
He went inside straight away. He was horrified to see his daughter tied up on the floor all alone.
“Sage! I’m so glad I found
you! You had me so concerned!” Her father said.
“ I’m glad to see you too dad but could you please untie me so we can get out of this place? It’s sketchy here.” Sage replied
“Oh! Of course!” Her father answered.
He untied Sage and gave her a tight squeeze. They went back and Sage and her dad immediately went to Scarlett.
“You’re a lifesaver! But, how did you know where she was?” He asked.
“Because I did it.” She replied
“I’m sorry you did what?” He replied.
” I just wanted to know how much you cared for your daughter because I was always insecure about Sage having dyslexia but I hope we can be a happy family again,” Scarlett stated.
“Of course,” Sage answered as she went and gave her a big embrace.
